2025: A Bittersweet Start for Makers

The year has barely begun, and the maker community is already grappling with some heartbreaking news. TikTok, my go-to platform for connecting with fellow creatives, is officially banned—and to make matters worse, Joann Fabrics, a staple in our world for over 80 years, is preparing to close its doors. Losing both is like losing two creative besties in one fell swoop. My popular Joann Shirred series will have its final moments this Spring/Summer, right alongside their heartbreaking shutdown. I’m still crossing my fingers for a last-minute buyer to save the brand, but things aren’t looking good. For millions of small brands and DIYers, this is a crushing blow.

In the meantime, life has been a steady balance of sewing orders, diving into online studies, and job hunting since last Fall. I’ve received a few exciting 9-to-5 offers and can’t wait to share my next big career move with you soon! As I finish my remaining handmade orders, I’ll be updating my website with a smaller selection of items. Expect more focus on $1 sewing patterns and blog posts featuring order updates and written tutorials. Maintaining my website and platforms has been manageable, which I’m super grateful for. And honestly, stepping back from social media has been refreshing. I’ll be back when the time feels right—until then, thank you for your endless support! ❤️
